Meet The Staff

William Davenport, DVM

Dr. William Davenport opened Pinion Veterinary Hospital over 30 years ago. A graduate from Kansas State University, he chose Reno as his home and has been sharing his skills in diagnostics and surgery since he arrived. His passion and caring for your canine and feline family members is the foundation for the philosophy of high quality care and respect shared by all our staff members.


Jennifer Jackson, DVM

Doctor Jennifer Jackson is the next senior member of our staff at Pinion Animal Hospital.  Originally from Oregon, she has had the distinction of being licensed as both a veterinary technician and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. This makes her uniquely qualified to mentor hospital staff and pet owners alike over a broader range of issues involving veterinary care and pet health.

Doctor Jackson has a vast experience in anesthesia and surgery, which greatly enhances our hospital's capabilities. She also has a special interest in exotic species and pocket pets and welcomes questions and visits from these special creatures.

She brings a vast range of pets with her, along with her husband and two children.


Tiffani Thomas, DVM

Dr. Tiffani Thomas was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She started her career in the veterinary field as a high school volunteer for the Loiusiana SPCA.  After receiving her Bachelors degree in Biology from Xavier University, she was hired on a a veterinary assistant for the LA SPCA where she worked until her acceptance into veterinary school.  She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 after completing her clinical year at Louisiana State University.  Her interest include dentistry, nutrition, dermatology, and animal welfare.  We are very excited to have her as part of our team. She has already developing a following  Dr. Davenport's  trust in her skill and caring attitude has allowed him to take a day or two off and he can now play volleyball a little bit longer during lunch


Mariah Estes

Head Tech/Licensed Veterinary Technician in Training

Mariah an Oregon native, has lived in Reno since 1995. She lives with her fiance Tylar, and Two dogs Roxie and Gracie. Mariah has been with us since 2011. She is our head veterinary technician. She has worked with animals for over 10 years. Between studying hard for her license and working full time here you would think she would run out of energy. Never!! She is giving 100% of her focus and time to the pets.  Always a grin and a laugh before she heads off in another direction. Her drive to learn new things that can help animals is a delight to watch and she will be a asset to our hospital for years. When she is not working here she works as a dog sitter/walker. Occasionally gets a day off and loves to be outdoors.  


Breanna Prince

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Breanna is a Virginia City native. She has been with us since 2013. As a licensed veterinary technician, Breanna brings care and skills in surgical, dental, and emergency anesthesia. Additionally, she can be found performing in-house laboratory work and procedures, x-rays, and checking in rooms. With genuine kindness and proven knowledge, she strives to provide our clients with the best possible patient care each and every time. She also holds an associates degree in business. When she is not working you can find her on the yoga mat, behind the camera lens, crocheting, and will soon be learning how to make dog bow ties!!! 


Charlotte Hurbain

Veterinary Technician in Training

Charlotte moved to Reno in 2003 from Corning, Ca. Charlotte lives here with her husband Zach, dog Milo and cat Salem. She currently holds an associates degree in Applied Science. She is attending T.M.C.C  for Veterinary Technology, and just received her tech in training license!  When Charlotte is not working she enjoys hiking with Milo, quality couch time with Salem watching Netflix and lastly studying for her new degree!!


Rebecca Gundlach

Veterinary Assistant

Rebecca is originally from Adams, WI but has lived in Reno since 2013 with her husband Max and her dog Olie, a terrier who they adopted from the Humane Society. She has an Associates Degree from Globe University in Middleton, WI in Veterinary Technology. She has worked in the veterinary field since 2011 and loves the daily interaction with animals, clients, and co-workers. She plans to become licensed in Nevada with her LVT. In her free time Rebecca enjoys going to country music concerts and spending time in Downtown Reno during the Summer Festival season. 


Ashley

Veterinary Assistant

Ashley was born in Connecticut and raised on Fishers Island in NY; she has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University.  Ashley has a traveler’s soul, she loves hiking and camping with her dog Hatchet.   Ashley has been working with animals for over 15 years and in the vet field since 2017.  Ashley is currently enrolled in the Vet Tech program through Penn Foster and has a strong interest in animal behavior and has worked as an unlicensed animal behaviorist.   She strongly believes in positive reinforcement and fear free techniques, she also loves pack training for Dogs. 


Lauren Schumann

Veterinary Assistant

Lauren is 19 years old and currently a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno majoring in veterinary medicine with a minor in biology. After graduating in 2021, her goal is to further her education and attend Texas A&M for veterinary school; There she aims to mainly have a focus on small animals, as well as a specialty in radiology. Once a doctor, she plans to then subside in the state of Texas, where she will open her own hospital, as well as manage an animal rescue on her land. 
One interesting fact about Lauren is: She was a competitive gymnast for 14 years. 
Some of her hobbies are working out, camping, photography, and attending concerts.
 
 
 
 


Sharon Short

Reception

Sharon is a Southern California native. She has been with us since 2006. She has been our Rock of Gibraltar for the invisible things that keep our front office running. The attention to detail in things unseen keep us operating and able to focus on pet care. She and her husband Floyd have 2 dogs, Nina and Milo (we call him Sig). Her skill in handling dogs is based on years of trials and competitions in the Shutzhund arena with her own dogs. When she is not working she enjoys hiking, but you bet she loves to hit the theater and catch up on the newest films.


Amy Jensen

Reception

Amy and Madelynn are a team,  when she is here her bright smile and cheerful attitude is a wonderful way to start the day.  Amy is our dental care expert. Madelynn will sit and lift her own gums for Amy to brush her teeth nightly.  Please ask her about any questions you have on tooth brushing technique and pet dental hygiene. 


Lilly Bergfield

Receptionist

Lilly is a Nevada native. She started with us February 2018. She moved from the call service field as a resolution supervisor to the vet field 2 years ago. When she is not working the front desk she enjoys fishing, camping, and her horses.


Kelsey Hilderbran

Veterinary Assistant

Kelsey is a Reno, Nevada native. She will be starting the TMCC veterinary technician program in August of 2019. She also holds an associates degree in science. Besides caring for animals, she has an unbreakable bond with her dog Lancer who she adopted in 2017. When she is not working she enjoys photography, going for long walks with Lancer, and listening to music.
